In this immersive workshop, instructor Samantha Dwornikoski will guide you through the rich history of fantasy art, exploring its enduring importance and how it continues to shape the media we love today.
You'll dive deep into the essential elements of fantasy illustration—learning about motifs, visual language, style, and tone—while reviewing key fundamentals including anatomy, shape, lighting, and rendering techniques. But the biggest emphasis? Creativity. This course is designed to push your imaginative boundaries and help you develop your unique artistic voice.
Whether you arrive with your own concept ready to expand or prefer to draw inspiration from the reference photos and ideas provided in class, you'll learn Samantha's signature underdrawing and color wash layering method to build a complete, polished illustration from start to finish.

This workshop is designed for intermediate & advanced-leveled students.

| Instructor Bio: |  " SAMANTHA DWORNIKOSKI is an artist based in Hilton Head Island, where she has lived here for six years. She graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a major in Illustration and a minor in Costume Design. Samantha first started showing at the Art League of Hilton Head when she was 9 years old, as the organization’s youngest ever exhibiting artist. Samantha’s artwork is rooted in mythology, folklore, and history, and takes inspiration from the stories of monsters and their relationships to us as people. Her work combines the whimsical, the surreal, and sometimes the morbid while trying to see the beauty in it all with specific detail and historical references. She works primarily with graphite, pen, ink, watercolor, and digital drawing. Apart from being an artist, Samantha is also a proud special needs teacher! |
