Get ready to create something amazing with one of the most fun and forgiving art mediums out there! Washi tape—a beautifully versatile rice paper tape that's just sticky enough—comes in endless colors and patterns, making it perfect for crafting vibrant, textured artwork on virtually any surface.

Join local artist Joan Moreau McKeever for a playful, hands-on workshop where you'll discover how to layer, overlap, and arrange colorful washi tape to bring a stunning sea turtle to life. No painting or drawing experience needed—just your creativity and a willingness to experiment! Joan will guide you step-by-step as you build your sea turtle from the shell up, choosing patterns and colors that reflect your own style.

This is art without the pressure. Washi tape is forgiving, repositionable, and endlessly fun to work with. You'll learn techniques for creating depth, texture, and movement while enjoying the tactile satisfaction of peeling, placing, and designing. By the end of the day, you'll leave with a one-of-a-kind sea turtle masterpiece and a new artistic skill you can use for cards, journals, home décor, and more.

All materials provided—just bring your imagination! Whether you're a seasoned crafter or trying something completely new, this workshop promises creativity, color, and a whole lot of fun.

A Percentage of the proceeds from this workshop will be donated to Sea Turtle Patrol in conjunction with our special Sea Turtle collaborative art exhibit at Art League Academy from July 22 through July 30, 2025.
