Escape to the mountains with nationally acclaimed artist and instructor Addison Palmer in this immersive one-day acrylic painting workshop that celebrates the grandeur of summer alpine landscapes. Whether you're new to painting or a seasoned painter, you'll discover how to translate the drama of towering peaks and the serenity of flowing streams onto canvas through expert instruction in composition, color theory, atmospheric perspective, light and shadow, and textural layering techniques.
Addison's personalized approach means each participant receives tailored guidance that meets them exactly where they are in their artistic journey. His warm, encouraging teaching style creates a supportive studio atmosphere where creativity flourishes and confidence grows. Throughout the day, you'll develop practical skills in rendering natural elements — from rocky summits and evergreen forests to cascading waters — while learning to capture the unique quality of mountain light that makes summer landscapes so captivating.
By the end of this inspiring workshop, you'll take home not only a stunning mountain landscape painting but also a toolkit of techniques and the artistic confidence to continue exploring the natural world through your own creative lens.

This workshop is designed for students of all levels, even beginners.
NOTE ABOUT THE MEDIUM:
Addison will be using acrylics for this workshop! Those using other mediums are welcome to join, however, the processes Addison uses may not be applicable to your medium due to transparency and/or drying times. Use of acrylics is encouraged.
REFUND POLICY:
Ticket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Credits or Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops.
If a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given.

| Requirements: | PLEASE BRING: 16" x 20" or 11" x 14" canvas (your choice) Reference Photos Two (2) #2 Pencils Kneaded Eraser Rag or Paper Towels Water Container Paint Palette of any kind BRUSHES (Both Sable and Bristle Brushes of different sizes) PAINT NOTE: Addison uses acrylic paint for all of his painting classes PRIMARY COLORS: 1. | Instructor Bio: | ![]() James Addison Palmer III was born in Savannah, GA, in August of 1970. Addison has spent most of his life on Hilton Head Island, S.C. From an early age, Addison has been drawing and painting the world around him. Addison comes from a strong artistic background. His Great Grandfather was an pen and ink artist in New York. He focused on doing portraits for newspapers from around the world. His father, Jim Palmer a long time landscape painter and his uncle, Walter Palmer a sculptor. Addison graduated high school from Hilton Head High School in 1989. After graduating he attended Brevard College on a full scholarship in the arts but also as a stand out distance runner, where he had an Olympic standard time in the marathon. After graduating from Brevard, Addison moved to St. Simons Island, GA where he opened his own art gallery in 1994.Since the age of thirteen, Addison has been painting full time, doing commissions, shows, and work for galleries. From day one he has painted the world around him in his landscapes, seascapes, wildlife and portraits. His work has many private and business collectors from the U.S.A. to around the world. Along with his painting, Addison is asked to teach painting work shops through out the eastern United States and is invited to teach painting classes, and to demonstrate his work on world cruises like Cunard, and Seabourn. Addisons original work can be seen in galleries like the Red Piano Art Gallery on Hilton Head Island, S.C. The Sheldon Fine Art Gallery in Naples, Fl and in Newport, RI, The Sylvan Art Gallery in Charleston, S.C.
