Colored pencils are so familiar that it's easy to overlook their remarkable possibilities—but artist-grade, colored pencils are capable of creating breathtakingly realistic artwork! Join accomplished guest instructor Lee Copen for this engaging 1-day workshop designed for artists of all skill levels.
Throughout this hands-on session, you'll explore essential colored pencil techniques and processes while creating a beautiful, detailed drawing of a bird. Lee will guide you step-by-step, sharing professional methods for layering, blending, and building depth and dimension in your work.

All levels of students are welcome; however, some drawing and painting knowledge and experience is important.

| Materials Included: | The Instructor will supply the paper, but students should bring the following materials: |
| Requirements: | SUPPLIES LIST: Students will need a set of Artist Quality colored pencils. I like Prismacolore Premier Brand -OR- Faber Castell  Any artist or professional quality colored pencil should work. They have a high wax content that allows for layering and blending, and intense color that makes your drawings pop! Be sure to NOT BRING WATERCOLOR PENCILS they are made to melt with water and are not the same thing. I WILL SUPPLY THE PAPER for the workshop. | Instructor Bio: |  Growing up in South Africa and Chile, LEE COPEN was always an artist. She spent her High School and College years in Colorado, where she excelled in art and earned a degree in Fine Art from the University of Northern Colorado. She worked as an graphic artist and architectural illustrator before going back to school to become a certified teacher. Living on a small farm in the Ozarks she taught art at the local high school for 22 years, while raising her family. Through all these years she continued to paint and draw. Now retired Lee gets to combine her love for painting and the outdoors, as a realistic landscape artist and plein air painter. Whether on location or in the studio, her light and color filled paintings reflect her love for the land and nature. Working in both watercolor and oil paint, she has received many awards and honors.
