Get inspired by the beauty of the Lowcountry as you capture its charm in watercolor—right from the comfort of the Art League Academy's studio. Working from reference photos, Alex Sharma will guide you through composing a scene that feels loose, balanced, and full of life.
The workshop begins with a demonstration focused on what to look for when building a strong composition, followed by hands-on demos exploring expressive brushwork that achieves a loose yet defined look. You’ll learn to embrace a more freeing approach to watercolor while reinforcing the fundamentals of transparent painting.
Throughout the two half-day sessions, Alex will emphasize creativity, personal expression, and developing your own artistic point of view. Students will work at their own pace, with plenty of one-on-one guidance and thoughtful critiques to help refine technique and vision.
This workshop is ideal for artists with some watercolor experience—intermediate and advanced painters looking to deepen their skills and bring new energy to their work.
SKILL LEVEL:
This class is designed for Intermediate Students and Advanced Artists using watercolor paints.
REFUND POLICY:
Ticket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops.
If a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given.

| Requirements: | Download a printable supply list PLEASE BRING PAINTS: Suggested Colors: 1. Two Reds (One orangish red & one violet-leaning red) 2. Two Yellows (One light & orange-leaning) 3. Two Blues (One turquoise-leaning blue & one primary blue) 4. One green of choice 5. Burnt Sienna OTHER ITEMS: Bring your own watercolor materials and some reference photos or images on your phone or tablet. | Instructor Bio: |  Born into a family of artists, ALEXANDRA SHARMA learned early a unique awareness of form and space that is manifest in her work. A painter, print maker, sculptor, and art professor, Alexandra has a Fine Arts degree and has studied at the Sorbonne, France, and Oxford University, England. Her work spans over twenty-five years and she is known for unique visual imagery in her paintings and her ability to capture the moment as she works primarily en plein air. Alexandra is a founding member of the Multi Media Arts Guild, Kingston, Canada, and member of Hilton Head Art League, Apple Pie Painters, Northview Group of Artists, and a lifetime member of the American art honorary, Delta Phi Delta.
