| Instructor Bio: | ![]() Lydia Beason’s captivating textile art work is lovingly, individually designed and hand dyed with natural plant indigo. Her work is crafted using intricate Shibori techniques with indigo harvested from her garden beds (as long as that supply lasts!). Her process is deeply rooted in the local historical and cultural significance of the indigo plant. Inspiration is drawn from the lush Low Country landscape, sea and sky. She utilizes a diverse range of mediums including silk, cotton, and linen dyeing, linocut, collage, and pigment painting to elevate the beauty and complexity of her indigo blue art. As a juried artist and award winner, Lydia’s art has been featured in galleries, podcasts, magazines, and television broadcasts. She shares her passion through workshops with community groups, schools, and USCB. She was recently honored to be named the Artist in Residence for the Beaufort County Libraries. Lydia’s small business, Island Indigo, donates proceeds to brain cancer research, a cause near and dear to her heart. The cognitive and physical therapy of her art have allowed her to find purpose through her battle with brain cancer. |
