Capture the beauty of the shoreline in a 2-half-day “Plein Air at the Beach” workshop with Instructor Alex Sharma, open to all skill levels and mediums for an inspiring outdoor painting experience.
The beach provides an ideal setting for a first-time plein air experience, offering open vistas, large shapes, and a rich variety of values and colors. The soft morning light and the simplicity of the land and seascape create the perfect environment to observe form, color, and atmosphere. Over two mornings, participants will explore how to use these natural elements as guides for mixing colors, creating the illusion of distance, and achieving unity within a painting.
This workshop welcomes artists working in any medium. Instruction will focus on observing and interpreting the landscape, understanding atmospheric perspective, and developing cohesive compositions inspired by the coastal environment.
Participants will meet at the Academy before heading to a nearby beach access on South Forest Beach Drive. Easels can be borrowed from the Academy, or artists may bring their own.
SKILL LEVEL:
This class is designed for Beginners, Intermediate Students and Advanced Artists wanting a refresher of the basics!
REFUND POLICY:
Ticket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops.
If a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given.

| Requirements: | Download a printable supply list PLEASE BRING PAINTS: Suggested Colors: 1. Two Reds (One orangish red & one pinkish red) 2. Two Yellows (One light & one deep) 3. Two Blues (One turquoise/phthalo & one purplish/ultramarine blue) 4. One green of choice 5. Burnt Sienna OR Burnt Umber 6. White (for oil & acrylic artists) OTHER ITEMS: 1. A lidded container for water (for watercolor and acrylic artists) 2. A lidded jar of mineral spirits & cloths or paper towels (For Oil Artists) 3. A Bag to put your trash in Watercolor artists may wish to bring a beach chair for comfort, though limited seating is available on-site. This relaxed, hands-on workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to paint outdoors, connect with nature and refine plein air techniques in a supportive & inspiring coastal setting. | Instructor Bio: |  Born into a family of artists, ALEXANDRA SHARMA learned early a unique awareness of form and space that is manifest in her work. A painter, print maker, sculptor, and art professor, Alexandra has a Fine Arts degree and has studied at the Sorbonne, France, and Oxford University, England. Her work spans over twenty-five years and she is known for unique visual imagery in her paintings and her ability to capture the moment as she works primarily en plein air. Alexandra is a founding member of the Multi Media Arts Guild, Kingston, Canada, and member of Hilton Head Art League, Apple Pie Painters, Northview Group of Artists, and a lifetime member of the American art honorary, Delta Phi Delta.
