Instructor Bio: | TRISH WEEKS is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning with a BS in Design. Her 50 plus year career has spanned fashion design, interior design, and for the last 25 years fine art painting. Trish has received awards in numerous juried shows on a regional and national level and has been represented by galleries in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, South Carolina, Michigan and New Mexico. Her work is included in private and corporate collections throughout the world. Art Comes Alive (ACA) International Invitational awarded her Landscape Painter of the Year in 2013; and Trish has been a finalist in American Artist Magazine Competition. Trish has been featured at the Taft Museum, the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Carnegie Art Center, The Lloyd Library & Museum, Pazzuti Modern Art Museum, and the Columbus Art Museum. Most recently her work has appeared in the January 2022 issues of Architectual Digest, Southern Living, and Sophisticated Living Magazines. Trish draws inspiration from the organic landscapes in the Midwest and the Carolinas. She also adds a global perspective by including memories from travels to paint in Europe, India, China, Japan and Nepal where she paints plein air in the environments she is experiencing. Trish's signature works portray expressionist views of nature that seem to breathe and vibrate with amazing energy. These are created by combining simple compositions with complex layers of color using a palette knife to intensify the clarity and impact of the colors. Her technique with the palette knife shows both delicate detail and also creates bold swaths that intensify the experience. Despite her strong technique, her composition and palette maintain a serenity; and the subject maintains a delicacy. Trish's art achieves a unique balance in its constituent elements, which may account for the sense of well being it brings to viewers. Those who experience her work routinely comment on how good it makes them feel, and describe it as a tactile experience or "a dance with color." TESTIMONIALS: Trish has taught one and two day workshops at The Women's Club of Cincinnati for the last 9 years, The Women's Art Club, and The Middletown Fine Art Center. Her students and collectors have commented: "Trish's Paintings always jump with color." - Dale Wolf (Student & Editor of Imagine Magazine) "Her work is loosely painted, energetic and expressive." - Christopher A. Yates (The Columbus Disptatch) "Weeks is a passionate, intuitive painter, layering loads of color to emulate the landscapes she's so attracted to" - Stacy Higgins (The Art Mag) Visit Trish Weeks's website. |
