This class is for students that want to work in abstract form. Whether you are new to abstract painting, or are an advanced student, you will gain insights into refining your skills.
Blending, color, focal point, negative space, lines, texture, composition, balance, all come into play. Critique will be done to better understand what works in a particular piece and perhaps what to leave out to create painting that is original and engaging.
SKILL LEVEL: This course is designed for beginner level, intermediate level, and advanced level abstract students; however the student should be familiar and understand the media they choose to work with. The instructor will provide one-on-one time and will be able to adjust according to each student's individual level.
REFUND POLICY:
Ticket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Credits or Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops.
If a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given.

SUPPLY LIST: Download a printable supply list NOTE REGARDING SUPPLIES: It is IMPORTANT to know your medium and how it will react on surfaces, and bring the correct surface and supplies with you to class. Canvas OR Watercolor Paper If you're using watercolor paper, it should be a MINIMUM of 140lb! For Those Using Acrylic: You should ONLY bring heavy acrylic (not liquid) AND bring a multitude of colors. A roll of paper towels (Bounty is Best) A Container to hold water A Variety of Palette Knives (A variety from large to small) Straight Edge Tool (A Putty Knife works good) A variety of brushes Any other supplies required for your medium. Instructor Bio: | ART CORNELL is an acclaimed photographer, poet and painter of abstract art. His works reside in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. He has judged numerous art and photography shows throughout the Lowcountry. In addition, he has written five poetry books and contributed his poetry to numerous regional publications. He is also recognized as a national Concourse automotive judge. Currently Art exhibits at Art League of Hilton Head. Art has assisted with the Arts program at Memory Matters, an organization dedicated to assisting individuals suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Recently he received certification in art therapy from Cognitive Connections. Art is also an instructor at Art League Academy, where he offers a number of classes, workshops, and private one-on-one or group lessons. Visit Art Cornell's Website |
