"Impressionist Oil Painting: How to Paint Fast with Oils" with Carol Iglesias (July 2024)

with Instructor Carol Iglesias

3 Half-Days
Tuesday to Thursday (1 to 4:30pm)
July 9, 10, 11, 2024
Art League Academy
(106 Cordillo Parkway, Hilton Head Island, SC)

Learn how to paint quickly in oils with wet-on-wet or alla prima in an impressionistic way. Carol will share her process for first blocking in large simple shapes before laying down colors. You will learn how to define values, identify your light source, establish a point of focus, and how to use color effectively in your paintings. You will learn how to crop and interpret your reference photographs for strong composition and understand the relationships between value, color temperature and color intensity. These methods will allow participants to quickly paint a fresh, loose looking painting!

Students will practice using their own photo resources. There will be a demonstration, personalized teaching and individualized feedback.

This class is designed for beginner students, intermediate students and advanced students. This all-levels class focuses a lot on individual assistance from the instructor, who can adjust accordingly to each student.

Ticket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Credits or Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops.

If a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given.
