Instructor Bio: | ![]() ANDREA SMITH Originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, Andrea moved to the Lowcountry in 2010 and resides in Bluffton, SC with her husband and two rescue pups. Covering a wide range of artistic endeavors through formal training, Andrea started painting at the age of five and graduated with a BFA in Visual Communication from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. There, she took the opportunity to do foundational work in all mediums, but found the most joy in her work outside the classroom with abstract acrylics. After 16+ years of professional design and marketing experience, Andrea left the corporate world to launch her own business, 7th & Palm, in 2015. Working full-time as an artist, freelance graphic designer, and owner of the paper goods product line 7th & Palm, she showcases her art and illustration work through eco-friendly greeting cards, painted canvas, leather goods, gift items, and more. Her current abstract work in acrylics and mixed media is influenced by a history and practice of drawing, photography, sculpture, metalwork, and various painting mediums including watercolors, oils, and acrylics. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the coast, her current work with acrylics pulls from deep emotion, a love of the water, playful texture and pattern, and is featured in collections around the country including New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and beyond. Andrea is also an exhibiting artist at the Art League of Hilton Head and participates in local markets, pop-ups, and art shows around the Lowcountry regularly.
