IN-PERSON: Watercolor Wow! Painting Loose On Yupo & Watercolor Canvas with Alex Sharma

with Alex Sharma

WHEN: Thursdays (1 - 4pm)

November 10, 17, & December 1, 8, 2022.

WHERE: Art League Academy
(Located South-Island at 106 Cordillo Pkwy)

Imagine how loose and free you can paint in watercolors without worrying about not being able to make corrections! Learn watercolor techniques, color mixing and brushwork specifically suited to the infinitely correctable surfaces of yupo paper and watercolor canvas (ready-made canvas that is prepared with a special, absorbent ground gesso). We will paint from life and from photo references. There will be instructor demos, critiques and lots of individual attention.

Ticket purchases to Art League of Hilton Head events are final. Refunds will not be given for missed or classes/workshops.

If a class or workshop is canceled by Art League of Hilton Head a full refund will be given.

Materials Included: No materials are included in this class. A list of materials you should bring with you will be provided upon registration.
Requirements: MATERIALS LIST

Bring whatever watercolor paints you may already have, one or two watercolor brushes, a few sheets of Yupo paper and one or two watercolor canvases.

Colors you should have in order to obtain the brightest, best color mixing:
1. Lemon Yellow or any light-appearing yellow
2. Cadmium Red (or any orange-learning red)
3. Alizarin Crimson (or any other crimson that is "pinkish")
4. Ultramarine Blue (or Cobolt blue)
5. Phthalo Blue (or Prussion Blue or Turquoise-leaning blue)
6. Green of your choice

NOTE: Yupo is a synthetic paper - 100% polypropylene. It is waterproof, stain-resistant and extremely strong and durable. This extraordinary non-absorbent surface resists tearing and buckling and remains perfectly flat, eliminating the need for soaking, stretching or taping. It can also be scrubbed and re-used.

Pre-stretched watercolor canvases are also easily available at all art supply stores. (Blick Art Suppliers, Michaels and other on-line art supply companies have pads of Yupo Watercolor Paper in a variety of sizes at very reasonable prices.)

NOTE: Alex will bring the special absorbent ground gesso so that you may use it on any non-watercolor canvas that you may have.
