Whatever your subject, this class will focus on classic watercolor techniques and will build from the simple to the more complex. Topics include use of value, control of the medium, color mixing, and composition.

Demonstrations are part of the class.

We will paint from life and photos for reference. Experienced students focus on ways to improve color handling, composition, and specific painting challenges.

Watercolor Paper in a Pad OR by the sheet (size of choice)
NOTE: Staples has WC paper in pads

Basic Watercolor Pigments:
Cadmium Red
Alizarin Crimson
Ultramarine Blue
Cerulean or Phthalo Blue
Lemon Yellow
Yellow Ochre
Burnt Sienna or Burnt Umber
(Bring what you have and we will go from there.)

2 Watercolor Brushes:
1 Flat (size 3/4" or 1")
& 1 Round (sz 8 or 10)

Flat Watercolor Palette OR
Large White Palette
(To Hold Your Paints Squeezed & Spaced Out)

Instructor: Alex Sharma
Instructor Bio: Born into a family of artists, ALEXANDRA SHARMA learned early a unique awareness of form and space that is manifest in her work. A painter, print maker, sculptor, and art professor, Alexandra has a Fine Arts degree and has studied at the Sorbonne, France, and Oxford University, England. Her work spans over twenty-five years and she is known for unique visual imagery in her paintings and her ability to capture the moment as she works primarily en plein air.

Alexandra is a founding member of the Multi Media Arts Guild, Kingston, Canada, and member of Hilton Head Art League, Apple Pie Painters, Northview Group of Artists, and a lifetime member of the American art honorary, Delta Phi Delta.

Alexandra exhibits regularly at the Charles Street Gallery in Beaufort, SC and at ALHH Gallery.
